はじめまして。

Wayaの受付で働くことになった、みゆうです。

 

 

バイリンガルの帰国子女ということで、今回のブログは日本語・英語、どちらとも書いてみました。
内容は同じなので、お好きな言語を選んでもらい、最後まで読んでもらえると嬉しいです（もちろん、どちらとも読んでもらってもオッケーです）。

 

私は９歳まで札幌にいて、それからはアメリカのオレゴン州に住んでいました。

 

 

日本には去年帰ってきたばかりなので、正直英語でのコミュニケーションのほうが自信があります笑

 

Wayaには数年前に同じく受付で働いていた友達に紹介され、出会いました。

 

 

面接日からWayaのユニークさを感じました。

 

和佳奈さんと康さんは私のライフストーリーに興味を持ってくださり、Wayaのことを色々と教えてくださいました。

 

まさに「Waya Love」を感じました。その日遊びに来ていたOGゲストさんともお話ができてすごく楽しかったです。

 

研修日もスタッフさんとヘルパーさんたちのサポートがあり、すごく分かりやすくて助かりました。

 

最初はテンパったり、ドジすることが多かったのですが、だんだんとコツをつかめてきました。

その後も受付をしながらWayaのイベントに参加したり、いろんなゲストさんと話せてWaya Lifeを存分に楽しんでいます。

 

 

Wayaはいつも賑やかで、新しい出会いがある場所です。

 

元スタッフさん・ヘルパーさんが数か月、数年ぶりに来てくださることも多いです。

いつでも遊びに来られる、安心感のあるゲストハウスなんだなと実感しました。

 

 

見た目は100%日本人なのに日本語力が低く、難しい読み書きができないことが不安であった私を、

Wayaの皆様は温かく受け入れてくれました。本当に感謝しています！

これからもいろんな人と話していろんなことを体験したいと思います。

Hello! Nice to meet you!

My name is Miyuu and I started working as a receptionist at Waya!

 

 

I lived in Japan until I was 9 and moved to Oregon (U.S.) and lived there for about 12 years. I just came back to Japan last year in the summer of 2023, so I’m actually more comfortable communicating in English.

 

 

I was introduced to Waya by a friend who has also worked here as a receptionist before. She told me that Waya would give me the space and opportunity to meet all kinds of people, and she was right. Waya is a place to have meaningful conversations and make new connections both locally and globally. Everyone here is really nice and accepting.

 

 

I was a bit nervous on the day of my interview, but Wakana-san and Kou-san made me feel really comfortable and asked me genuine questions to get to know me better. It didn’t really feel like an interview; more like an afternoon tea party, if I’m being honest.

 

 

My training days were pretty difficult, but was also a fun experience. Both the staff and the helpers were very supportive of me and I am truly grateful for that. Even though I was unsure at first, I became more confident with my work as time went on.

 

 

There is always something happening at Waya, whether it’s a scheduled event, a casual get-together or meeting an old aquaintance who has come to visit. I would love to continue meeting new people and hearing all kinds of different stories from you guys.
